The Death of Fairytales

I thought my life could be perfect.
I thought I could have everything.
But everything just blew away,
Fading to darkness, crumbling into the wind.

What happened to my fairy tale?
My once-upon-a-dream?
My happy ending torn apart.
Abandoned by Prince Charming.
So much for my fairy tales.
Goodbye to my once-upon-a-time.
Say hello to reality
And my not-so-perfect life.

If every girl can be a princess,
Where are the jewels and crowns?
If a dream is a wish made while sleeping,
Why are my hopes all crumbling down?

What happened to my fairy tale?
My once-upon-a-dream?
My happy ending torn apart.
Abandoned by Prince Charming.
So much for my fairy tales.
Goodbye to my once-upon-a-time.
Say hello to reality
And my not-so-perfect life.

If a song can be sung to a wishing well,
And a magic wand can cast a spell,
And gray mice turn into horses,
Why can't I live my dream?
Is it so hard in reality?

What happened to my fairy tale?
My once-upon-a-dream?
My happy ending torn apart.
Abandoned by Prince Charming.
So much for my fairy tales.
Goodbye to my once-upon-a-time.
Say hello to reality
And my not-so-perfect life.

The clock turned back, the ball erased.
The thorns too sharp to fight against.
Aladdin's lamp has lost its touch.
Gold doesn't come from straw.
Pixie dust and happy thoughts
Are naught but child's play.
Repunzel's hair is gone for good.
Sherwood Forest lost its Robin Hood.
Fairy tales aren't all they seem.

What happened to my fairy tale?
My once-upon-a-dream?
My happy ending torn apart.
Abandoned by Prince Charming.
So much for my fairy tales.
Goodbye to my once-upon-a-time.
Say hello to reality
And my not-so-perfect life.

A wish upon a star.
A glance made from afar.
A happy ending never had:
My not-so-perfect life.
